Robert Yamane, professor of business technology at Hawaii Community College, was presented the Hawaii Business Education Association Outstanding Postsecondary Business Educator of the Year Award at its annual conference held on Jan. 26.
Robert Yamane, professor of business technology at Hawaii Community College, was presented the Hawaii Business Education Association Outstanding Postsecondary Business Educator of the Year Award at its annual conference held on Jan. 26.
Yamane’s nominators said he demonstrates integrity and dedication to the University of Hawai’i Community Colleges system.
Yamane serves as president of the Hawaii Community College Alumni and Friends organization. He also is chairman of the Business Technology Program Coordinating Council for the UH community colleges where he guides the system of UH business technology programs forward in a systematic and articulated fashion. At the campus level, Yamane serves as the Business Education and Technology division chair.
He works with the Business Technology Advisory Council and has coordinated and facilitated meetings resulting in articulation
agreements between the Department of Education and HCC to facilitate ease of transition for students who are interested in attending the college.
“Bobby is conscientious in all his undertakings and gives it his 110 percent. He has deservingly earned the respect of students and
colleagues,” said Joni Onishi, vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Hawaii Business Education Association is a nonprofit, professional organization for teachers of business and information technology as well as those businesses and organizations interested in the quality and training of Hawaii’s workforce. The purpose of HBEA is to promote Business Education in the State of Hawaii and to provide opportunity for business educators, students, or friends of business education to interact. The ultimate goal of HBEA and its affiliates is to prepare students to use information technology and business skills in our global society. HBEA strives to prepare individuals with the knowledge and skills to succeed in careers in business and industry.
